Education Sector:

NFE Schools:

Under its WELD project NRDF has identified over 1345 out of school children in one union council of Mardan and is in the process of establishing 20 Non Formal Schools for them (July 2010 till date).

Skills Enhancement Project for Girls:

The project was implemented in five districts of the province. Seven sewing centers and three computer centers were established in 07 girl’s schools of the province. Arrangements were made with the Local Government Department to provided teachers to these centers. A UK based group of Philanthropists provided finances for the project (January to December 2008).

Sponsoring Children Education in Balakot:

NRDF made arrangements to support the education of over 300 children of the earthquake affected communities in Balakot of district Mansehra. A UK based group of Philanthropists provided finances for the project (2006).

Promoting Peace and Tolerance in Pakistani Madaris was funded by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) through funding from United States Institute for Peace. Under the project, female and male Ulama were sensitized to introduce reforms in their institutions. As a result of consultative process, the religious clerics came up with a reform package for bringing changes in their 200 years old educational curriculum (May 2003 to August 2004).

The NRDF with partial financial support of UNICEF worked on “Gender Gap in Primary Education project-Kohat” for three years. Under this project the religious communities were actively involved in supporting girls and boys primary education in the remote villages of Kohat (now Hangu district). The project was successful in enrolling more than 8000 out of school children during a period of 3 years (January 1999 to December 2001).

Distribution of Educational Kits in Afghanistan was another voluntary project of NRDF to facilitate Academy for Educational Development, USA. The NRDF was responsible for the overall management and facilitation of the pilot component of the project (April to December 2002).

Organized three computer-training courses of one-month duration each for female Afghan students (1993-94).

Computer Literacy Scholarship Scheme provided support to over 200 individuals for completion of three months training courses (1993
