Violence and Flood Affected Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


  •  To provide food and non food items to the violence and flood affected communities
  •  To enable the target groups to access outside assistance in their recovery and rehabilitation efforts;
  •  To network the target population with supportive groups committed to the cause of empowerment of the poor and to promote institutional mechanisms at community level for self driven rehabilitation on sustainable basis;
  •  To enable the flood hit communities to rehabilitate their lives as self-defining groups with a strong sense of self-identity by enhancing their capacity to harness local resources;
  •  To create an awareness amongst the affected communities regarding their physical, social and political environment for inducing meaningful and constructive actions;
  •  To increase knowledge and change behaviors for ensuring health and hygiene of flood affected population;
  •  Introduce communities to disaster mitigation and preparedness program.

  •  Provided cash assistance to 50 families for the construction of their houses
  •  Free medical assistance to 10,000 affected families
  •  Linkages of affected families in 17 union councils with resourceful organizations

Outline of the Project

NRDF is providing relief services to the flood affected people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since August 1, 2010. Under the project food and non food assistance has been provided to over 25,000 families in Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshehra districts of the province.

In addition cash amount up to Rs. 50,000 was provided to 28 families in district Nowshehra. Furthermore, a fund of Rs. 3 million has also been set up to assist the affected communities to rehabilitate their livelihood means. The NRDF is determined to extend the scope of relief and rehabilitation activities to other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
