Ulama Conference Held In Connection with Polio Week

Peshawar : Ulama have played a vital role in removing misconceptions about Polio vaccine and they have succeeded in convincing a large number of parents who had been refusing to vaccinate their children in the past.

During the awareness campaign National Research and Development Foundation (NRDF), Peshawar convinced thusands of refusing parents in Swat, Buner, Peshawar, Charssadda, Hangu, D.I.Khan, Bannu, Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency, Khyber Agency and Norht Waziristan Agency to vaccinate their children against Polio, said Maulana Jehanzeb Zahid, JUI-F Naib Ameer, Peshawar. Addressing an "Ulama Conference" attended by more than 100 prominant Ulama of District Peshawar at a local hotel in connection with "Polio week" he said that Ulama of District Peshawar are Supporting and will continue to support the health departmen's eforts to vaccinate children against Polio.

National consultant of NRDF Maulana Muhammad Sharif Hazarvi, Maulana Muhammad Rahim Haqqani, Jalal Uddin Advocate, Amir JUI-F Didtrict Peshawar Qari Rafiq Shah, DHCSO Dr Shah Ali Asghar and DSV District Peshawar were also present on the occasion.Urging Ulama to play their role against polio by making vacination against Polio a success, the scholars said that Ulama have much influence to convince the people. They asked the Ulama to remove misconceptions about Polio vaccine and contriburte towards making pakistan a Polio free country. Dr Shah Ali Asghar of Health Department said that the fresh polio cases reported are the highhest in Khyber PukhtoonKhwa and FATA. With the suppot of Ulama we will be able to succeed against this disease.
